As you search the internet, you will find arguments for and against medium format cameras as opposed to 35mm cameras.  I have both (actually I also offer Digital) the choice is yours.  I personally like medium format cameras because of the distinct advantage that the negative offers.

The negative for a medium format camera is roughly three times the size of a 35mm negative.  If your pictures are not going to be any larger than an 8 x 10 - it doesn't matter what camera you use, both will provide exceptionally sharp photographs.

However, two truths exist, the first is that prints larger than 8 x 10 will have more grain...the larger the negative, the less you have to enlarge it to make a large print hence the grain is less.  Secondly, larger negatives provide more cropping options.  The lab I use has two cropping options for a 35mm.  There are at least five cropping options for the medium format negative.

As for the specifics of my photography equipment - I have two Canon EOS-1 35mm camera bodies and several different lens.  I have three Bronica ETRsi 645 camera bodies with several different lens.  I even have a Bronica GS-1 6x7 camera.  I have two Metz flashes, three Quantum Q-Flashes, three Novatron studio flashes, and three Medalight studio flashes.  As all the photographers out there know, everything I named is professional grade.  When I shoot weddings, I always have at least two of everything - just in case.  (Ask the photographer that shoots your wedding if he has a backup system....just in case!)

Digital is making tremendous progress.  I recently purchased a Canon 20 D digital camera.  Wow...  I am now shooting my Bridals, Seniors, Glamour, and most studio style sessions with the Canon 20 D.  I also now offer wedding photography in digital.

Professional Photographic Lab

I use Pounds Professional Photographic Labs as my photo lab.  They offer professional photographers so many different services.  Professional papers, mounting, retouching, and digital retouching.  Just about anything you want is available.

Professional Film

My film of choice is Fuji professional film.  I find the colors to be perfect and the grain minimal.  Fuji has won several awards for their professional film.
